Summit Arts Centre

Summit Art Centre is located less than one hour from Ottawa, in the Gatineau Hills of La Peche, Quebec, on a small lake called Lac Guilbeault. This unique educational and artistic facility situated on approximately 200 acres of natural forest and lake water front environment will attract local artists, regional artists and international artists.

The Center, which is associated with the Ottawa School of Art will offer traditional art instruction such as drawing, illustration, oil, acrylic and water colour painting, ceramics, mold making and sculpture. Unlike most other art schools it will also offer museum display technologies and special effects film industry prosthetic special effects. It will also offer instruction on foundry casting, iron forging, glass casting, large outdoor garden sculpture techniques and other practices that are not available in the downtown campus of Ottawa School of Art or any other urban center.

The Center’s unique location will offer students and artists not only the region’s finest senior qualified art instruction and mentorship but also a unique temperate forest atmosphere. The Center will attract professional and accomplished adult artists as well as corporate employees and those employed by museums, galleries, film industry, zoological organizations as well as teachers currently teaching art and wanting to expand their qualifications.

The Center is owned and operated by David Clendining, a nationally recognized accomplished artist and teacher who for almost 40 years has accomplished significant works of art including film industry sets and special effects , museum and zoological displays, bronze and stone monuments and gallery shows all across Canada, parts of the United States, Europe and Asia. David's vision is to share his knowledge and to create a venue for other accomplished artists to do the same. Many of the courses offered require unique skills in which there are limited opportunities throughout Canada. This therefore is an excellent opportunity for artists who strive to learn new techniques and broaden their skills.

Summit Studios Art Center is also affiliated with other centers located in Newfoundland and Malcom Island in British Columbia.
